Parisis G. Filippatos has been litigating employment cases for over fifteen years. During that time, he has represented thousands of individuals and companies on diverse issues such as employment discrimination and retaliation based on race, sex, age, or disability, executive employment and compensation contracts, and separation and severance agreements. Having served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York before going into private practice, first as a management-side employment lawyer and later as an employee advocate, Mr. Filippatos has handled myriad employment disputes from truly varied perspectives.
Mr. Filippatos received his undergraduate degree in political science cum laude with honors from Columbia University in 1988, and went on to earn his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1991, having written on to law review. Mr. Filippatos established his own law firm in 1997, Bonnist & Filippatos P.C., and in 2000, he became a partner at Outten & Golden LLP. Mr. Filippatos practiced employment law at Outten & Golden LLP until March 2004, when he once again established his own practice representing individuals and select companies in all types of employment matters.
Mr. Filippatos lectures and has published articles and book chapters on various topics in employment law, including reductions in force, case assessment, whistleblower protection, age discrimination, family and medical leave, violence in the workplace, litigation tactics and strategies, EEOC administrative procedures, and ethics. Mr. Filippatos has delivered speeches to organizations such as the National Employment Lawyers Association (New York and National), the American Conference Institute, the American Bar Association, and the Practicing Law Institute. He is a member of the New York and Connecticut state bars, as well as the federal bars of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Southern District of New York, and the Eastern District of New York. |
