Jane E. Lippman is an accomplished employment attorney who is dedicated to obtaining the best outcome for each and every client. Ms. Lippman joined Filippatos PLLC as Of Counsel in 2021, after deciding to make the switch from representing management in the municipal sector to representing employees seeking fair treatment in the workplace across all industries.
Ms. Lippman has litigated numerous cases involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, denial of disability accommodations, and interference with medical leaves. She has first-chaired trials and arbitrations and handled administrative charges before state and federal agencies. Ms. Lippman’s substantial appellate experience includes appeals before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the highest court in New York State, the New York Court of Appeals. Her trial court and appellate victories have resulted in frequently-cited judicial opinions, as well as appeared in the New York Law Journal.
Ms. Lippman has negotiated six-figure settlements and handled numerous mediations and court settlement conferences. She has also provided counseling regarding a variety of workplace issues, including federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws, terminations, discipline, requests for accommodation, employee leaves, and the drafting of policies and procedures.
Education, Affiliations & Interests
Ms. Lippman received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she graduated sixth in her class and was the Note & Comment Editor of the Wisconsin Law Review. Ms. Lippman also received numerous awards for her academic achievements. Prior to law school, Ms. Lippman earned a B.A. in English from Barnard College, Columbia University, graduating magna cum laude. Ms. Lippman began her legal career practicing general litigation at O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles and eventually returned to New York, where she discovered her passion for employment law while working for the New York City Housing Authority.
Ms. Lippman is licensed in New York; California; the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; the Second Circuit Court of Appeals; the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central, and Northern Districts of California; and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (“NELA”) and NELA’s New York Chapter, and the New York City Bar Association. When she’s not practicing law, Jane enjoys cycling and hiking, singing, playing guitar and listening to music, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family, friends, and spoiled, much-loved cats.
