Statement on Covid-19 & Black Lives Matter
Statement on the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Black Lives Matter Movement
2020 was a truly remarkable year for us all—both challenging and awakening. In these revolutionary times we must be ever-vigilant in the protection of workplace rights. Both the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Black Lives Matter Movement have laid bare the gross inequities and chronic injustices that have permeated our society since the inception of this nation. Working people know all-too-well that the workplace occupies a major part in their waking lives; indeed, the work they perform defines them socio-economically and provides for the wellbeing of their families. Because we recognize that work is important to all of us, we know that the protection of each individual’s rights in the workplace is essential to our collective prosperity.
At Filippatos PLLC, we are committed to effectuating those workplace rights for our clients. Whether it’s the pregnant worker who was sidelined under the pretext of a pandemic-related reduction in force, the disabled employee who was denied reasonable accommodation related to the coronavirus, the frontline worker who blew the whistle on unsafe working conditions, or the Black executive who felt the corporate glass ceiling come crashing down when they expressed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement — we are here to ensure that you are treated fairly, decently, and lawfully by your employer especially during these very trying times.
May you and your families always receive the fairness, dignity, and respect you deserve as well as afford to others, and may all of you remain healthy and safe through the New Year and beyond!
